August 9, 1945, Japan is devastated after the USA introduced a novel weapon into belligerent warfare three days earlier.

Despite the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, the Asians were still adamant in their non-acceptance of the terms presented by the Allies in World War Two.

US President, Harry Truman already warned that their notoriety only means doom for them. True to his word, Truman ordered a second deadly attack on Japan, the only Axis force which was still fighting the Allies in WWII as of August.

Three days after Hiroshima, Nagasaki was also visited with a second and last atomic bomb in warfare. 40,000 people died and in response, the Emperor of Japan conceded immediately.

Japan atomic bombing

Emperor Hirohito directed the army to accept, unreservedly, the conditions set by the Allies and four days later, he announced Japanese defeat on national radio.

The twin bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki remain a controversial issue till this day with many analysts arguing the mass destruction was not needed to secure victory in WWII.
