It’s time to abandon

It’s time to abandon the complexities of the tech age
I want to wake up in a 17th Century village
Off suburban London where my love and I rely on the federal post office to communicate
And I walk miles to the only phone booth around to hear her mellifluous voice
The notes from her words feed my resolve to keep her my number one choice

I want to escape the complexities of this tech age
I’m tired of the frivolities we magnify at the expense of proper things deserving of homage
Clear blue skies, sunrises, sunsets, stars, full moons, shooting stars and soothing petrichor
Warm embraces, eye contact, heart to hearts, kisses and hugs to fill the generational manor
And of course long walks, river trips, hill climbing with my sweet love’s hand clasped in mine
Absorbing every moment now because it’ll take days of a train trip to hear her laughter again
for which I pine

It’s time to abandon the complexities of the tech age
And shake the excessities we have saddled ourselves with
Make no mistake, I love the ease and speed it comes with
But didn’t they say easy won’t stay and easy come easy go
Then for a purer, simpler, clearer, better age, I’ll let all this go
Put the phone down and hold my hand
With every word, don’t take your eyes off me
Whisper to me, sweet words as many as sand
Twiddle my finger, play with and tease me
No distractions from metal birds in the sky, metal fish on the sea nor metal moving on the ground
And to me alone, you’ll be forever bound

Right now, let’s abandon the complexities of this tech age.
